So many of my 2nd graders struggle to keep their place while transitioning to chapter books or books with more words on a page. I've been trying to think of a way to help them with this issue as well as provide them with the decoding assistance they still need. So many of my struggling readers tend to still need the security of their Beanie Baby decoding strategies during the transition to chapter books. I began to plan out a reading tool that could provide my students assistance while becoming independent chapter book readers. After much research, I learned that the color blue seems to be the most effective colored overlay, so I decided to get to work and create an All in One bookmark. I am now in the process of creating a final version of this bookmark. It will provide a guide, a soothing blue transparent text window, the perfect size for those first time chapter books, and the Beanie Baby Decoding strategies all in one neat usable and durable bookmark.
